MIGA an interferometer for observing the gravitational field of the Earth
MIGA project applications range from monitoring the evolution of the Earth's gravitational field to provide a new tool to detect gravitational waves.By combining geophysics and fundamental physics in a single infrastructure: The LSBBButton
The LSBB-2020 project aims the development and modernization of the Underground Laboratory at low noise (LSBB). This is to deploy multiple devices to achieve structural work to position the LSBB the highest level of European and world competition by strengthening its low noise quality.
First, the establishment of outdoor receptions capabilities to underground infrastructure aims to organize the management of research teams working on the site and increase the attractiveness of LSBB for incubation projects in the territory. Furthermore, specific volume underground development will strengthen the competitiveness of the unique qualities of low noise LSBB:
PHASE 1: 2015-2018
The first phase involves positioning the LSBB the highest level of international competition as large European research infrastructure. The drilling of two horizontal axes perpendicular underground 300 m long each will allow the implementation and test instrumentation coupled astrophysical and geophysical, and position LSBB as a major research infrastructure at international level for projects of hospitality Europe in particular related to metrology very high sensitivity and understanding of the coupling between the thermo-hydro-mechanical underground geological processes and the physical measurement of gravity and physics and relativistic distortion.
PHASE 2: 2018-2020
The second phase is to promote and ensure the transfer of innovation to the academic and industrial communities
On the one hand, the establishment of outdoor receptions capabilities to underground infrastructure aims to organize the management teams research working on the site and increase the attractiveness of LSBB for incubation projects in the territory. On the other hand, the development of specific underground volume boost competitiveness of unique low noise qualities LSBB: equipment room instrumentation and validation of experimental protocols (600 m3), enhancing ergonomics and packaging environmental armored capsule for instrumental developments and experiences the ultimate resolutions (1,200 m3).
